Kiki’s Priorities
PUBLIC SAFETY & FIGHTING CRIME
New Mexico is one of the most dangerous states in the nation. Our families deserve better — and Kiki Vigil has the record to actually do something about it.
With nearly 30 years in federal and county law enforcement, Kiki understands crime at every level: from the cartel pipelines that push drugs into our schools to the white-collar corruption that steals from our own county government. He has led task forces, managed investigations, trained officers, and put dangerous people behind bars.
In Santa Fe, Kiki will fight for:
- Stronger penalties for violent offenders and repeat criminals
- Fully funded, fully staffed law enforcement agencies across Doña Ana County
- Real border security funding, including Operation Stonegarden, which Kiki oversaw firsthand
- Tougher prosecution of fentanyl and drug trafficking networks
- Protection of victims—expanding victim advocacy resources across the county
The contrast is clear: Our current representative has never carried a single public safety bill. Kiki has spent 29 years doing the work she’s never even tried to legislate.
BORDER SECURITY & LEGAL IMMIGRATION
Kiki is pro-legal immigration. He believes in a system that is orderly, humane, and respects the rule of law. He knows that our agricultural economy, our culture, and our history are deeply tied to the movement of people and goods across this border. But he also knows that open borders don’t serve our community—they serve the cartels.
Kiki Vigil knows the border—not from a talking point, but from three decades of working it.
As HIDTA Commander and Doña Ana County Sheriff, Kiki worked alongside U.S. Border Patrol, DEA, ATF, Homeland Security Investigations, and Mexican federal law enforcement to stop the flow of drugs, weapons, and human trafficking across our region.
In Santa Fe, Kiki will fight for:
- Policies that support legal pathways for immigration while enforcing the law
- Coordination between state, local, and federal agencies to reduce trafficking
- Protection of our farming and ranching communities from cartel activity near the border
AGRICULTURE & FARMING FAMILIES
Kiki didn’t just represent farming families—he grew up in one.
Raised on a farm and ranch in the Mesilla Valley, Kiki understands the challenges facing New Mexico’s agricultural community: water rights, labor availability, rising input costs, and a state government that too often ignores rural concerns. Our chile farmers, pecan growers, dairy operators, and ranchers deserve a voice in Santa Fe who actually knows what it means to work the land.
In Santa Fe, Kiki will fight for:
- Protecting New Mexico water rights for agricultural use
- Reducing regulatory burdens on small and medium farming operations
- Supporting farm labor policies that are both humane and workable
- Standing up for rural Doña Ana County in a legislature that too often favors Albuquerque and Santa Fe
SECOND AMENDMENT
Kiki Vigil has carried a firearm in service of this community for nearly 30 years. He understands better than anyone that the right to self-defense is not abstract; it is real, and it matters.
He is a proud, unwavering supporter of the Second Amendment and will oppose any legislation that infringes on the constitutional rights of law-abiding New Mexicans.
“I’ve seen what happens when criminals are the only ones armed. I will never vote to disarm the people I’ve spent my life protecting.”
EDUCATION
Kiki is a product of Doña Ana County public schools, including Gadsden High School. He has given hundreds of volunteer hours coaching and officiating youth wrestling across our school district because he believes in what public schools can do when we invest in them right.
He is a first-generation college graduate from New Mexico State University and knows that education is the clearest path out of poverty.
In Santa Fe, Kiki will fight for:
- More resources to Doña Ana County schools—not bureaucracy in Santa Fe
- Vocational and career training programs that prepare students for real jobs
- Safe school environments—including active shooter preparedness training that Kiki implemented countywide as Sheriff
- Supporting teachers, coaches, and the people who show up every day for our kids
FAITH, FAMILY & COMMUNITY VALUES
Kiki Vigil is a Catholic, a Knight of Columbus, and a lifelong member of San Albino Parish in Mesilla. He has been married for 40 years. His faith is not a campaign prop; it is the foundation of who he is and how he leads.
He believes in the dignity of every human life, the sanctity of family, and the irreplaceable role that faith communities play in building strong, resilient neighborhoods.
Kiki is pro-life and believes that our laws should reflect our community’s deepest values.
He is proud of our Hispanic heritage in the Mesilla Valley, including the history, culture, and traditions that make this community extraordinary. He will fight to protect and honor that heritage, not erase it.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY & PRO-BUSINESS
Kiki managed a $24 million county budget and never lost sight of who was paying for it — the taxpayers of Doña Ana County.
In Santa Fe, he will bring that same discipline. No waste. No showboating. No missed sessions.
He is pro-business and believes that New Mexico’s economic future depends on creating conditions where local entrepreneurs, farmers, and small business owners can thrive — not on growing government.
